Savannah Pride announced that in 2016 — for the first time ever — the festival will be expanded from a one-day event to a week-long celebration of the diversity of the LGBT community in Savannah. The festival will run from Monday, October 17, through Sunday, October 23, and will include a full program of events aimed at satisfying the wide variety interests within the LGBT community.

The main event will be “Pride in the Park,”  which will take place on Saturday, October 22, in Forsyth Park from 11 am to 9 pm.  Headlining the entertainment and musical performances will be country music star and current “The Voice” contestant Billy Gilman. Also featured will be a Savannah Pride Marketplace with food vendors, artisans and other local community organizations & businesses.  VIP passes will be available. This year’s festival also includes a number of other exciting changes, including; “The White Party” at the Jepson Center, “Pride on River Street”, a youth-focused event, and a pool party hosted by Andaz Hotel.

Now in its 17th year, Savannah Pride is one of the largest festivals in Savannah, with an annual attendance of 5,000 to 8,000 people. The festival is a registered non-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors and funded through community donations, sponsorships and entrance gate admissions. Savannah Pride is much more than just a big party. The foundation focuses on giving back to the LGBT community throughout the year by hosting educational events — including the Diversity and Transgender Seminar held this past July — and through charitable activities. This year’s key charitable beneficiary is the LGBT Community Center Fund.
